Volunteers Needed To Localize The Bible +1 App

In addition to 18 English versions of the Bible, just1word.com is proud to offer 16 versions in 8 other languages, including; Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Ukranian. We receive requests for new translations and new languages everyday. The world is hungry for God’s Word.

Each new language and new version brings us that much closer to our goal of engaging people around the world in the Bible. We are pleased to work with publishers around the world to spread God’s Word to His people in their own language.

However, providing various Bible translations only takes care of part of the goal. We also need to provide localization to each of these languages so that people can interact with the app in their own language. That is where you come in. We need your help in translating features and services such as topics, passage titles and tool tips. Just1word is having a global impact. This year, millions of people will experience God’s Word through the website and mobile apps. All around the world individuals are reading, studying, and being transformed by the Word of God. You can make a difference by volunteering your God-given gifts and talents to bring the Bible to people in their own language.

Many Great Features Have Been Added In Update 1.4.0, Now Available In iTunes!

The latest release of Bible +1 for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch is available! You can update to version 1.4.0 now in the iTunes App Store.

In this update we are pleased to bring you Multiple Verse Selection, which allows you to bookmark, highlight, and share several verses at once. Simply touch each verse you want to select and then choose the highlight or share tool. Would you like to chose verses from another book? No problem, just tap the multi-verse icon and open up the selection screen, click the + sign in the bottom right and bring up a menu to navigate to any chapter or verse. When your finished adding chose “done”. Now you are ready to bookmark, highlight or share all your verses at once.

Would you like to add multiple verse references to your Notes? Now you can. Update 1.4.0 introduces Multiple Reference Notes. Select the verses you want to add and tap the note icon to write your note. It’s that simple. Be sure and create a Note Title, new this release. If you want to make your note public you can turn off the private setting and share your thoughts with the community. Community Notes can be sorted biblically or by most recent.

Introducing the NABRE

We at just1word.com remain passionate about using cutting edge technology as a means of helping to make the Bible available throughout the world. We currently offer thirty-six versions in nine different languages, with more being added all the time. If you have a favorite version that we do not offer click here and let us know.

Everyday around the world people are being impacted by the Word of God. We are grateful and excited to be a part of this effort. For this reason we are pleased to announce the addition of The New American Bible Revised Edition to the list of Versions available for download from Bible +1 (as well as our other apps).

This newly released version is the first update to the New American Bible in 20 years. The NABRE is authorized by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, Inc. and carries the approval of the Administrative Committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as well as Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I. Archbishop of Chicago.

Since a gathering of Bishops at the Vatican in the fall of 2008, the Roman Catholic Church has encouraged the reading and study of the Word of God. Just1word is pleased to offer this newly revised edition of the Holy Scriptures in the app store.

A Whole New Look At just1word.com

When you visit Just1word.com you will notice the site has a whole new look. Now that you can sync your bookmarks, highlights and notes between the website and your iOS apps, it just made sense to redesign the site to bring the simplicity of the app and make it easier to navigate across all platforms. Just1word began offering a sneak peek into the new design a couple of weeks ago and after positive feedback from you we launched the update this week. This allows you to do a side-by-side comparison of two different Versions of the Bible at the same time. You can even use this feature to view two different languages at the same time.

The Easter Story

Just1word is pleased to announce our newest reading plan just in time for the celebration of the resurrection. The Easter Story is a ten day reading plan that begins on April 15 with Jesus teaching the crowds and follows Him through the passion week concluding on Easter Sunday with His ascension. We hope you will take some quiet time each day and reflect on this monumental event as relayed in the scriptures. We encourage you to invite a friend to join you as you read The Easter Story.

You Asked For It, You Got It.

We are excited about the number of emails we receive from you everyday. We love to hear what you love, what you don’t, what you want to see expanded and what you want us to add. We are encouraged by your compliments and prayers. The newest release, version 1.3.2, is all about responding to your requests. First, you love the low light feature in the Bible, so we have expanded it across the entire app to improve your reading experience. Second, many of you using the iPhone and iPod want the option to view the app in landscape, now you can. Several requests have been made for the addition of the auto scroll feature, which is now available for iPhone, iPod, and iPad.

Finally, we are pleased to announce the addition of three new versions to the app. The American Standard Version (ASV), which was published in 1901 and is now in the public domain, is available both online and for download. The Revised Standard Version (RSV) and the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), at the request of the publishers are both available for download only. These versions are copyrighted by the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America and are used by permission of HarperOne Publishers. We would like to thank these two organizations for allowing offline access to these two popular versions.
